And so it begins...
Change, of course... I found out Thursday that I will no longer be working in the job posting that I love and thrive at. Do I feel as if I am going backwards at work? Absolutely. However, I refuse to compromise my moral compass, and if people that I work with are uncomfortable with it, that is their issue, not mine. I'm going back to shift work, but they are willing to accommodate my medical needs, provided that my DR will say NO to over night shifts for this lady... I've proposed working two 7-7 shifts and 2 12-12 shifts, now if I can just get my DR to write that out for me. I'll have to pay for the medical note... I have a very difficult time with the swing around of working nights, and for a few years went on very little sleep... Working a consistent schedule also has helped me lose 40 lbs since my heaviest weight, keep my blood pressure stable, has kept the black dog of depression at bay and significantly lowered my stress levels.
I was disappointed for sure, but in the grand scheme of life, this is going to work well. I will be able to do things like cook suppers during the week, spend more time with LG and DB, see friends more often and have a cleaner house... LOL
It will mean more preplanning of time off, and working Sundays.... I will be sitting down as soon as I find out my start date and plan and book time off... Next year, I've decided that I will buy the maximum time allow and work less... This year I purchased 120 hours, next year I will purchase 225 hours... It will be less in my pocket, but more time at home....
Change is hard at first, messy in the middle and glorious in the end ( I haven't the faintest who wrote this)... Here's to another new beginning....

Good luck! Oh I find your vacation thing very fascinating. I'd buy the max also!!! I am now at 4 weeks plus 7 days of personal leave, and I try to carry over the max allowed of 5 days/year. And even that doesn't feel enough :)
