Sweet grass and strawberries...

I went today to pick up my strawberries for the winter, and the dog came along for the ride. The windows were down and all I could smell was sweet grass the entire drive down. I picked up the strawberries, took the dog for a swim and drove home, with the car filled with the scent of fresh picked strawberries. Tomorrow will be devoted to making freezer jam and freezing berries. Total cost for the berries? 34.00 for a flat. Seeing where the berries are grown? Priceless.

I'm also buying a flat of strawberries to freeze and use at a later date. I would pick them but honestly I just don't have the extra time to spare so I guess it is worth it to me to have them already picked.
I've never made freezer jam because I always thought it may be too sweet and you wouldn't get the true taste of the berries.
Does yours taste sweet?

Island Witch, I use the Clubhouse brand to make the freezer jam. It uses 1 & 1/2 cups of sugar to 4 cups of berries. It's sweet, but you can taste the strawberries... The dog wades in the water, I think he's too scared to get out too far. I think his favorite part was watching the fish!
