No spend day...

I didn't leave the yard today either, so a no drive day too! I did laundry, worked, and my sister and nephew came over and we started in the basement. I have 5 totes to go through, garbage is outside, and the workshop area to finish cleaning ( about 2 hours max to finish). I'll be ready to wash the floor tomorrow in preparation for painting the floor. My sister and I worked for about 2.5 hours in the basement, as it's much easier to do what you perceive as a big job with 2 people. We did find a treasure hidden, 3 empty glass peanut butter jars. One still had the label on it - Kraft, and the biggest one was a brand I didn't recognize, but it had a price on the lid written in marker- 1.19 for about 2 KGS. they were hidden in between the floor joists. I also discovered that the old oil tank entrance was covered with a Styrofoam cup... Will the adventures with the house please be finished! I've had enough...

I made whistle dogs for lunch and for supper - dip & crackers, a beer and watermelon... Tomorrow should be another no spend day... and if I'm smart a no drive day as well!

What are whistle dogs? I love the name...

I have to attack our basement this weekend with out of town guests coming and the remnants of my daughter moving out...what a mess!

It sounds like you got a lot accomplished yesterday! I hope to do the same this weekend...

Whistle dogs are hot dogs with cheese and bacon added. I made mine by splitting the dogs down the middle and putting the flat sides down on bread ( I had no buns), then grated old cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon on top. On the other slice of bread, I added butter and onions. Pop under the broiler for a few minutes and add what ever you like for toppings. I've seen whistle dogs with bacon slices wrapped around them and BBQ'ed with the cheese in the bun.

Enjoy tackling the basement... I'm feeling good about getting the house in shape.

Island witch... I've found so many treasures in this house... Russian coins from the late 70's- mid 80's, 50 cent pieces hidden in amongst a box of old bathroom tiles, 30ish roller blinds tucked in the floor joists.

I figure the someone int he family used to work the port and Russian boats use to stop here when I was younger. I figure that's where they came from. The house was built in the late 60's/early 70's so it's not that old, but it's too funny the stuff that was left behind, well it's funny now, but not at the time, I shed a few tears over the JUNK that was left behind.
