What I wanted to be when I was a little girl.
I've been thinking a lot lately about what life and the journey I've been on, and taking baby steps to change the things that I'm not happy with. This morning I work up thinking about the three things i wanted to be when I was little girl. In no particular order, they were : foreign Correspondent/journalist, an archeologist and private detective.
Then I started to think about what I liked about the jobs. the first thing that came to my mind was that I would be working independently, but involved with others. Secondly, I would have times where I would be sitting reading and writing, but over half the time I would be physically moving around, checking things out. Third, it would involve traveling and meeting new people. I love puzzles and figuring out how things fit together to make a bigger picture. Plus I like working one on one with people, and showing them the ropes.
My current job ( that's over next June) involves the reading and writing part, plus the working independently and involved with others, but lacked training for the job, and I'm not moving around at all! I think that's why I love serving tables so much, I'm always moving, talking to people and I learn something new everyday!
Now I need to figure out how I can take the things I love and excel at and put them into a new job/career! ( I have a while to do this). Any thoughts, suggestions or what did you want to be when you were young?

Good luck to you!
A couple of things come to mind such as real estate agent or working at / owning one of those meal assembly places is something I've always thought would be cool. I've seen people start off small doing that.
A couple of books that I found valuable in figuring out a second (or third or fourth) career are:
Working Identity by Herminia Ibarra and
Pathfinder by Nicholas Lore
I'm forever grateful that accounting and tax is like a big sudoku puzzle to me. I wouldn't have figured that out when I was a kid. I just wanted to be a novelist and the CEO of a huge company. So I got to be a manager at a pretty big company and write crazy true stories on a blog. lol
I have been blessed with having so many different careers, and my Engineering Degree to boot.
All this helped me to land a dream job in the Aerospace Industry and I've never looked back.
