Reasons why I should not be allowed to fix things in my house!

If I had a photo I'd show you, but I didn't take one. My kitchen sink has been very slow to drain for months. I thought I had fixed the problem but nope, last week everything would drain out of one sink and come back up the other and took abot 20 minutes to empty out.

So Saturday morning, I took a good look under the sink, and realised that I had never looked up at the underside of the sink and the traps. Can you guess what I saw next? One of the traps was held together with duct tape and I didn't do it, which means that the tape is over 7 years old!

Out comes the hand saw, and I cut the plastic drain pipes away, figuring that I'll get the pieces and put a new set of pipes in. My dad brought me over a snake to clean the line and I snaked the line. I decided to go down into the basement and check the line. There was a leak... Yes, the 40 year old pipe has sprung a leak at an old weld site. The plumber is coming at some point to replace the line and the under the sink pipes...

Thanks goodness DD is away, as it's a major pain to wash dishes in a pan and flush the remains away...

Oh and if you need something else to laugh at this morning, I was half way to work yesterday when I realised that my office keys were either on the kitchen table or in my bedroom. I had to go home tomorrow to get the keys, as I'm locked out of my main computer until then.

Oh, you've had a rough start thus far. I hope they can fix your pipes and it isn't too expensive.

I've done the whole locking myself out of places way too many times... now I make spares of all my keys (including office keys) and keep them in my wallet. Now, if I lose my wallet, the keys would definitely be the least of my problems...

Well you tried! I'm always tempted to DUI also - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Plumbing isn't my specialty that's for sure though I can fix toilets pretty good:)

Doesn't sound like the best day!

I wanted to let you know I got my gift and love it! I am using the oven mitts while I do my Christmas baking and will use them for that every year. :-)

Years ago I told hubby ( who promised he was capable) to fix the kitchen pipes that were leaking and I would take care of draining the water heater in the basement to replace the burned out element. When I finished I came upstairs to find my whole kitchen under water! He is NOT allowed to touch plumbing anymore! LOL Good luck with yours and hope you get them fixed soon!
